Shikas is a persian word which means broken e.g in persian shikast dil means broken heart. Therefore shikaslad would be used for A sad man or a broken man. Over the years this has got negative connotation. Now we use shikaslad for a person who is not rich.

Perhaps this might be the correct connotation but generally a word shikas kath could be more appropriate as against shikaslad Be that as it may Shikas kath needs to be explained and what is the connotation of this word.

Its is used as abuse in kashmiri laungauge.
